In reality, they vary greatly: linguistic landscapes of western cities, such as L’viv, contain hardly any Russian, while Aneta Pavlenko 45 linguistic landscapes of eastern cities, such as Kharkiv or Donets’k, and southern ones, such as Odessa or Kerch’, are dominated by Russian (Polese, 2010; Shakh, 2010; Søvik, 2010).
