We wanted to do an experiment or a demonstration because UAITC was putting all this hardware in place and nobody seemed to know just exactly how it was all going to work. So we thought we’d try this. We’d been thinking about the idea of the social impact of each different instructional telecommunications medium. So it seemed like a natural thing to teach. At that time I was negotiating a contract with UAITC [University of Alaska Instructional Telecommunications Consortium] and I 38 Nexus analysis communicated with their office in Anchorage using the computer. And I kind of liked that way. Both of us have never been comfortable with telephones. In twelve years we’ve been married we’ve had a TV for less than a year. We’ve only had a phone for a few years now.
