Tracey, however, is still a victim i n one respect: i n processes relating to the police and the law reported in the 20th December a rticle, such as being cha rged and a rrested.
For example, in the headline ' Fiend rapes woman in Big Mac bar' ( Clark's own example, reproduced from the Sun newspaper of 27th November 1 9 8 6 ) , the actor, the 'fiend', is placed first in an active clause, the process is 'rapes', the goal is 'woman', and the circumstance is the place in which it occurred. However, in Clark's example from the following month's Sun coverage of a different violent attack, the headline ' Girl 7 murdered while mum drank at pub' does not name the attacker explicitly.
